When it comes to travel, many people already have an idea of where they want their next holiday destination to be; whether a trip to visit a friend, or a holiday to see that city that’s always been on the list of to-do’s, sights are undoubtedly set on future holiday locales.
However, many people also keep their travel options wide open, looking out for recommendations or opportunities to travel to a specific destination. For this group, there’s an extensive list of resources to help explore future travel destinations – and to ultimately pick a locale that’s sure to result in an unforgettable holiday.
One of the best ways to research a future travel destination is to follow word-of-mouth. Travellers are always willing to relay both good and bad experiences with regard to travel experiences, and some of the best adventures can come from following someone’s recommendation on a holiday destination, a hotel, or an activity. What’s more, with the wide range of travel sites online today, “word-of-mouth” can easily be sought out via the web. All you have to do is conduct a search for travel reviews online, and you’re bound to find a number of useful recommendations.
Of course, travel magazines and books are still a great resource to refer to when seeking out a travel destination. You can find books that outline cities, countries, and even entire continents, enabling you to plan the perfect getaway in an ideal locale. Similarly, there are a number of travel magazines that are constantly covering the hottest destinations to travel to. So if you’re a fan of travel, it might be worth subscribing to a few of these magazines.
Finally, you’ll find a wealth of information on travel through travel shows on television. There are a number of TV shows dedicated solely to travel – whether focusing on holiday destinations, cultural allures to be found in such destinations, or activities to partake in while visiting a specific locale. Plus, you can usually access all or most of these travel channels and shows through a satellite television service, like Sky HD – so you can benefit from various types of travel shows at once.
So, if you haven’t already decided upon your next travel destination, begin by seeking recommendations from other travellers, looking on the web, searching through books and magazines, or watching travel shows. With so many reliable resources on travel tips, you’ll know where to travel next in no time.

Portland Oregon is great, city, but still down to earth…Great Coffee, and beautiful, and artsy (try Saturday Market during the summer)
Savannah Georgia is a beautiful coast, old south, beautiful town…Love the accents and the trees with moss hanging off them.
The Olympic National Forest in Washington State is beautiful, lots of beautiful mountains and beaches right next to each other. Rainforest and hot springs even!
San Francisco is gorgeous and really fun with the trolley and great seafood!
New York city, is of course great – a cross-cultural/foreign experience without ever going overseas!
Crater Lake Oregon is breathtaking and amazing! A crystal clear blue lake in the middle of a volcanic crater. Quiet, peaceful and inspiring!
We rented a house on the Osa last year with my 2 girls and it was amazing. Try Lapa Rios or Bosque del Cabo. There are incredible places there and your little ones will love the monkeys, macaws, butterflies & beaches. It is very safe and clean. You do need to watch for scorpions & snakes but a little common sense will suffice.
August is a tough month to travel to the caribbean.. you know it is hurrican season, right (and incredibly hot & sticky)? But, if I had to pick, I would go to Aruba. Yeah, it will cost a little more than some of the other islands but this is one island outside of the hurricane belt & it is a little cooler because it is windy. I know it recently got some bad press, but to be honest, I think it is safer than a lot of other places like Jamaica & the Bahamas.
Black hill of south Dakota the trout fishing is out of this world and there are barely any people
