Are you a travel fanatic? If the answer is yes, then here are the top 10 travel destinations you should consider visiting this year and a few reasons why.

Colombia: a place you just have to visit, with its plenty of momentum, friendly people, Colombia has a natural beauty and a country that is fun and safe to explore.

The coastal Caribbean city of Cartagena has great tourist infrastructure mixed with its colonial architecture and history. All the major cities here have fairly large International airports, and flights are often easier and cheaper.

Panama: when you mention Panama, what comes in the mind is canal. While you may not hear much about it, this country has lots of tourists’ attraction sites than canals only. Panama has a little bit of everything to offer travelers from the lush jungle highlands to excellent surf ad beaches on the pacific side. Add the mix friendly people with diverse and rich culture and you have yourself an equation for a perfect destination.

Cambodia: Siem Reap is just a bit south of Bangkok and it offers a far more authentic and less slick look into the culture while still having well developed infrastructure. One of the benefits here is Angkor Wat temple complex, most visitors use it as a staging area for their time.

Argentina: Bariloche in Argentina is a city jammed with winter and summer activities. Its stunning scenery in almost all directions makes it popular among those touring different places in the region.

Australia: the island of Tasmania in Australia though it’s a small state is enough to keep most travelers occupied for the entire trip, with its incredible landscapes, national parks, nature reserves and world heritage sites are just but a few great options to fill your days in Australia.

Bangladesh: This is definitely a place worth to look for when travelling to Asia. The capital city Dakar is the obvious place to start with, the people here are welcoming and friendly. The port city of Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar the worlds longest beach are some of the must go places in Bangladesh.

Italy: travelers need not to be told to go to Italy, but many people need to be told about the many big Italian Island besides Sicily. Sardinia is one of them; it has long been a vacation destination for Italians. It’s a haven for anyone who loves the outdoors.
Senegal- If you are looking to explore the real Africa you should consider visiting Senegal as your entry point. Its fascinating and easily accessible culture makes it a safe place to be.

Germany: fun loving? Berlin in Germany is fairly filled with interesting and amazing new tourist attraction. It has plenty going for including a feel that is somewhat exotic compared to some other countries.

Syria: Damascus in Syria is one place where you can feel like you are truly stepping back in time. It is the oldest city in the world but this part of the city looks, smells and sounds like it did long ago. It’s full of history and credibly affordable.

So every one, 2009 is the year of travelling to your destination go for it!

What is the best travel destination or place to visit in your state?
We will be starting to travel by motor home soon and are interested in starting to line up an itinerary. We are looking at the entire country, just no theme parks, we got over that when our children grew up.

I always do my research for our trips from these 3 sites which I find to be very reliable.

* Travel & Leisure (the magazine's online site is great)
* Conde Nast (their travel online site is concierge.com)
* Frommer's

Determining the Top 10 Destinations Worldwide would be difficult as it would vary and depend on basis considered….season, type of traveller, price, etc..

This time of the year, most top destinations are based on Winter Getaways.

Wow! I wish I could book you into our condo in Kawaii! But we have already forfeited our reservation for this year! Airfare too costly!

Istanbul, Cappadocia, Ephesus, Gallipoli, Ankara, in that order of priority.

Try the hotel "Side Pension" in Istanbul. It's reasonably priced and close to the major sights.

Turkish food is not too unusual for someone used to many different types of food – it has many similarities to Greek and Middle Eastern food. In little neighborhood restaurants and bazaars, there are many different types of kebabs and honey-soaked pastries, and of course the candy Turkish Delight. "Turkish coffee" is very strong, but most Turks today prefer fruit-flavored teas. More expensive restaurants use a lot of lamb and fresh fish, and Turkish cuisine uses a lot of yogurt, nuts, and spices (but more for flavoring – it's never really that spicy).

In no particular order:

Istanbul – So many things to do, so much culture. I've never been anywhere like it.
Sarajevo- A lot of history, most of it still very raw. An eastern feel.
Barcelona- beautiful city, plenty to do and see
London- very multi-cultural, expensive but a lot of free attractionsl
Sighisoara – lovely little village in romania. go exploring old castles, visit the birth place of dracula, avoid the local gypsy kids
Krakow- nice city, good places to eat, good day trips- auschwitz a highlight
Olympos(turkey)- stay in tree houses, relax, swim in the sea, take a cruise, hang out with other travellers
Rome- there is SO much to see and do. Beautiful art. Do not miss the cistine chapel.
Florence- beautiful art, lovely food and wine
Granada – visit the alhambra, meet the friendly locals, go to a flamenco session

I can suggest the top 10 must see Indian destinations keeping in mind the diversity angle you have asked for.

1. Agra and Delhi
(north India- famous Taj Mahal and the capital with numerous historical monuments like Red fort)
2. Shimla and Kulu-Manali
(north India- Hill station, hill train and nature activities)
3. Goa-Western India for picturous beaches and historical monuments of Portuguese era like Fort Aguada and many churches and temples)
4. Jaipur -Udaypur-north India- city of palaces and monuments
5. Pondicherry- near Chennai – former French possession-beaches and historical buildings
6 Banglaore -south India- Capital and fast growing city with many tourist places and the hub of IT acitivity in India)
7. Kanya Kumari-south India where three oceans namely Arabian sea, Indian ocean and Bay of Bengal meet- Spiritual places and scenic beauty
8 Puri and Konark in Orissa- East coast of India- Jagannath temple and sun temple at Konark
9 Darjeeling-in West Bengal – a hill station with hill train and scenic beauty
