Which is the best website to view and compare international travel flight tickets?I need to fly to Paris,France from Bangalore, India in end of December and back in first week of January. I was told its off-season so tickets will be cheap. However i am having a hard time getting information on the net. Most of the websites with price comparisons do not cater to Indian cities!!! Help!

I've compared prices of travel agents with the site I use on line. Travel agents can't even come close to online ticket booking. I use http://www.dropair.com. Their prices are substantially less than expedia, travelocity and orbitz. dropair.com is offering up to 65% off flights this Summer and an additional 10-20 bucks off when you select your flight. This site runs extremely fast and it's easy to use.
Your instincts are right. Historically, the ideal window was between 3 months and 3 weeks + 1 day. Many airlines still impose mandatory price increases as the trip gets closer inside 3 weeks. On the other hand, if you are flexible with dates, sometimes you can find awesome last minute fares by going to airlines websites and signing up to be on their newsletter mailing list.
In general, I would recommend trying to book 4-6 months out, if only so that you can have those 3 months to monitor the fares, ideally daily but perhaps weekly and then to secure tickets when you see a drop. There is also a helpful site called airfare watchdog. Finally, consider purchasing tickets through a site (I believe orbitz has this feature) which does a price guarantee, such that you can take advantage of any subsequent fare drops.
Try to buy your tickets about 90 days before the departure date. That's when they're cheapest.
Do a lot of research on different travel websites. Also, you can get A LOT of great deals if you are in college or under 26. Best of luck!

I highly recommend Northwest Airlines. My grandfather flies to South Africa frequently, and that airline can fly there with the least stops.
you can also try south african airways, but you'd have to completely change terminals at an international airport, and you don't want that.
Check out expedia or travelocity, though. see which airline flies there, but trust me. Don't book flights there. I've learned that the hard way.

My parents have used them a few times and have never had problems with them.
I think it's better/easier to just book everything online but my parents aren't as technologically savy as I am so they prefer booking through an old-fashioned travel agency.
Overall I think you should just do your own booking online, but if you prefer to go through a travel agency you should be fine with Hobbit.
